Location

Wharton is located on the Colorado River, 30 miles southwest of Sugar Land and 55 miles from downtown Houston. Located 45 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, the elevation is 101 feet.

Primary and Secondary Education

In addition to its academic excellence, Wharton ISD boasts many athletic and other extracurricular accomplishments. The Community is “Tiger Proud.”

Wharton County Junior College is a rapidly growing institution serving Wharton and the surrounding counties through a wide variety of Certificate and Degree Programs. WCJC has its Home Campus based in Wharton, with other campus settings in Sugar Land and Richmond. WCJC recently opened its Fort Bend Technical Center, also in Richmond, to better serve the needs of the community and Employers through an innovative workforce development partnership. The Wharton Civic Center is truly a reflection of our community, first-rate! It’s handsome interior includes a main hall, four meeting rooms, a caterer’s kitchen and lots of other amenities. The Wharton Civic Center’s sole purpose is to serve you. We’re ready!
